Tuff Terrains is run by Bernard Pugh, one of those hardy Welsh mountain men with a passion for machines that can go almost anywhere. His 193 Acre hill farm has the landscape to test the capabilities and skills of any driver to the limit, whether it be steep grassy slopes or deep watery bogs. This passion which seemed a bit odd to his farming neighbours has now been turned into a well established business, offering 4x4 drivers training whether novice or expert, with the emphasis on safety but not loosing site of the main objective excitement and fun.

4x4 Driving Courses

STAGE 1 : HALF DAY COURSE

Starts with your arrival at our purpose built  and designed " Off Road" training center. First you'll need to get prepared so bring along some old togs. ( it can get a bit dirty ) then while your having a mug of tea or coffee we'll commence with a little class room introduction, we'll keep you as brief as possible but you will appreciate that safety and the general ground rules must be laid out to before taking to the course.

Once the basics have been covered we can move out on to the course, first your instructor will drive you around the lower stages. After a brief demonstration you will be in the diving seat and your instructor  will be accessing your natural skills and will be noting where additional guidance may be required. The driving continues and takes you into more and more areas of the Tuff Terrains course, each stage of progress is closely supervised and with clear instructions from the instructor will enable you to achieve feats with a 4x4 you may have only dreamt of.
If  one or more students are on the course at the same time you will be able to allight from your vehicle to see exactly what the vehicles are actually doing (quite an eye opener ). Towards the end of the mornings driving you will be able to tackle one of the trials courses which should round off your stage 1 course, except for a leisurely cup of coffee and a de-briefing and hopefully a well deserved certificate of your competence.

STAGE 2 : FULL DAY COURSE.

As with stage 1, We'll start with a drink whilst we complete the classroom instruction, once outside we'll spend a period of time going over the vehicles and show you how to prepare the for the 'Off Road' conditions.

Following on from that you'll sit along side your own instructor whilst he or she takes you around the lower stages before handing over the driving to you. Your driving skills will be assessed and on going instruction will be the order of the day.You will once again be able to progress onto our various trial areas as you gain confidence and skill. We will however take a lunch break and prior to commencing the driving we will, whilst the food settles, have a period in the classroom discussing Training and Development. Then back out on to the course with renewed energy to tackle some of the more demanding areas of our 'interesting' Trial Areas. Towards the end of the day you'll be able to put into practice all of the days learning with the final onslaught  on the Trial Areas covered by the days training. Then its back to base and wait for it.........vehicle cleaning and 'Make ready for the road'.
Don't worry we've got a power washer, which you are welcome to use on yourselves if required.

A welcome refreshment and the de-briefing and hopefully the well earned Certificate.

STAGE 3 : FULL DAY, WINCHING TECHNIQUES

This course is designed for the individual or individuals who require expert knowledge of the various winching techniques available.
The course is comprehensive and demanding. There will be a minimum of two qualified instructors and have available a veriety of working examples of the conditions that might be encountered. Due to the nature of the course and it's active participation we are able to offer the inclusive price for up to FIVE attending together, unfortunately we are unable to offer any reduction for fewer than five attending together.

This course is ideally suited to any participant of 'Off Road' activities, It will instruct you and your team how to be safe and efficient ..... Time is money !   but be safe.

Please note that clients using their own vehicle do so at their own risk, 'Off Roading' can be hazardous and 'Tuff Terrains' will not be liable for any damage caused to client vehicles whilst on land being used for the purpose of ' Off Road' training.

Available for private hire (M.O.D. approved )
This facility is only available to  certificate holders for .22 rifle shooting.
It is however available for Air pistol and Air rifle shooting for clients own weapons.

Course fishing lake with large carp and roach.

Tracks are available when 4WD vehicles are not in use
